Haircuts

Last night, Rick gave Skyler a haircut. He did a nice job-he always does. It's a lot cooler for Skyler, but I know he's getting tired of me rubbing his head all of the time now. It reminded me of a haircut he received when he was younger. Skyler was about three or four and didn't have a lot of experience with haircuts yet. I took him to the mall in Galesburg because the hairstylist had a carousel-type horse the kids could sit on. The lady started in on Skyler's haircut, and big tears started rolling down his face. Skyler's sobbing soon became uncontrollable as he cried out "You broke my hair! You broke my hair!" I think the hairstylist also shed a few tears over that one-she felt so bad! We made it through that time, and I haven't seen Skyler shed a tear over his hair since. Someday, though, when it starts to fall out on its own . . . we'll see.

I'm glad he doesn't cry over broken hair anymore. That is priceless. I only remember Mark's first haircut because he had adorable curls and I hated to have them cut off. Luckily they grew back and now he is contending with it falling out or receding on its own. All the other boys had straightish hair and the haircuts didn't phase me, or there were just too many of them to recall.
