I Love My Husband . . .

I realized today that I am always posting about Skyler. Well, Rick, now it's your turn. I've been overwhelmed lately with appreciation for Rick and all he does. So, I'd like to post about some of the things I love most about him. I'm going to try to narrow it down to fifty. So, honey, this one's for you:

Fifty Things I Love About My Husband:

1. The freckles on his shoulders
2. How he always manages to wake up in a good mood
3. His willingness to help out--no matter what the job is--at home or elsewhere
4. The fact that he can cut his own hair, and does
5. His silly made-up songs (I know, he thinks I think they are annoying, but I secretly love them)
6. The fact that he married me!
7. The joy he gets in rubbing my swollen belly
8. How he never seems to mind my morning breath
9. He can cook!
10. The fact that he lets me sleep-in on Saturday mornings, AND makes me breakfast!
11. His gentle touch and soft voice
12. How he makes Skyler laugh, even when I don't think it's funny
13. The fact that he likes leftovers--and eats them!
14. Knowing that he is a worthy priesthood-holder and ready to give me or Skyler a blessing any time we need it
15. His sense of humor when things have gone all-bad
16. The way he doesn't get offended when I get upset over the dirty house
17. How he always says he would have done the dishes if I hadn't gotten to them first (It's nice to think it would have happened that way!)
18. He can change the oil in our cars and figure out minor repairs!
19. The fact that he helps with laundry and welcomes my "Honey-Do" lists
20. He gave me a temple marriage and hope for an eternal family
21. He enjoys going to Lamaze class
22. I never hear him say bad things about other people--even when I am doing it
23. My co-workers all think he's cute--and they're right!
24. He's never bought me flowers
25. He's always happy to buy me chocolate
26. The way he laughs when I tease him about his "baby bump"
27. The fact that he never, or rarely ever, complains about anything
28. The fact that he doesn't get upset when I complain about everything
29. The way he opens my car door for me and always says "watch your head!" while doing it
30. His pride in his family, close and extended
31. The closeness he shares with his family
32. The fact that he doesn't seem to notice what an amazing person he is
33. I still don't know how to use a lawn-mower!
34. How he leaves his dirty socks on the floor (instead of the dining room table)
35. The way he tears up when talking about family members
36. He doesn't get upset when I eat the entire pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream that I had bought for him
37. He lets me watch "House" alone
38. The way he gropes around the side-table for his glasses in the morning
39. He has never missed a day of work since we've married--even though he doesn't care for his job
40. The way he puts off going to work at night because he doesn't want to leave his family
41. His nose
42. His eyes
43. His lips
44. Basically, everything about the way he looks, even when the eyebrows start growing together again
45. The pride I see in his face when he talks about his children
46. The fact that I get to sit next to him every week at church and know that he's happy to be there
47. The unusual gift ideas he comes up with
48. The fact that he doesn't make a big deal out of my birthday, our anniversary, or Valentine's Day (He doesn't have to--he makes me feel like a Queen every other day of the year)
49. The fact that he's mine, and says he always has been
50. The way he wears black socks with his khaki shorts and it doesn't even bother him

Well, I could keep going, but I'll stop now. The bottom line is that, honey, I LOVE YOU! I am so blessed and happy to have you in my life and look forward to every minute of every day I have with you.

I have never seen him in that light, but you are so right about him and for him. I love the sock comment, I wish I could see it that way. I always complain if the socks are left on the living room floor. Next time I'll try to see it your way. Thanks for sharing your love of my son.
